The El Pla del Penedès City Council has initiated road safety improvements on the Bonavista neighborhood crossing (El Maset), following resident requests, to transform it into a residential area prioritizing pedestrians.

The work, carried out by the Roads service of the Barcelona Provincial Council and the municipal brigade, turns the crossing into a zone where vehicles must travel at a maximum of 20 km/h. The aim is to foster safer coexistence between vehicles and people.
The two existing speed bumps have been replaced by three new, larger ones to ensure effective speed reduction. Vertical signage has also been reinforced with new 20 km/h limit signs, and three reflective bollards have been installed on each side where the road narrows from two lanes to one.
Painted pedestrian crossings, which had very limited use, have been removed, as in a residential area, pedestrians can cross the road where most convenient, with necessary caution. Additionally, the pedestrian zone has been repainted red, two dangerous metal turrets have been removed, and the reflective elements on the wooden turrets have been renewed.
These actions address the demands of the residents of El Maset to make the Bonavista crossing a more pleasant and secure space.
