The Servei Català de Trànsit reopened one southbound lane of the AP-7 motorway in Martorell on Saturday, January 24, partially easing congestion following the fatal train accident in Gelida.

The Servei Català de Trànsit (SCT) reopened one southbound lane of the AP-7 highway near Martorell, as announced on Friday, after safety conditions were verified. Vehicles began circulating promptly at 2 PM on Saturday, January 24, 2026.
This partial measure follows the tragic rail accident in Gelida, caused by the collapse of a retaining wall onto the tracks, which resulted in one death and 37 injuries.

The other two lanes of the motorway, those closest to the accident site, remain closed due to ongoing repair and cleanup work.

The Minister of Transport, Óscar Puente, indicated on Friday that the total reopening of the two affected AP-7 lanes is expected to take approximately two weeks. The SCT has requested drivers use alternative routes.
