One month after the tragic accident in Gelida on January 20, which resulted in the death of a trainee driver, the Rodalies network continues to face partial closures and chronic unreliability.

The rail crisis, triggered when an R4 line train hit a retaining wall, has turned into a daily struggle for commuters. While Renfe claims 80% of the service is operational, key lines such as R3, R4, R7, and R8 still rely on replacement buses for several sections.

"They ask us for patience while they steal hours of our lives in front of a screen that says delayed train."

The ongoing instability has led to a 25% decrease in regular passengers. Many commuters have switched to private cars or intercity buses due to unpredictable schedules. Emergency repairs costing 100 million euros are currently underway to restore full service across the region.
