Rodalies trains have returned to their usual schedule after the fatal accident in Gelida and the subsequent stoppage by Renfe drivers suspended the service since Tuesday night. The recovery was made possible by a third network inspection, known as 'white marches,' conducted with drivers on board to verify safety.
Despite the full reopening, the service started with typical incidents. The R1 line is experiencing delays that can exceed 30 minutes, while the R4 maintains alternative road transport between Martorell and Sant Vicenç de Calders. Alternative road service is also in place on the R15 line between Reus and Ribarroja.
The day is expected to be closely monitored. The Catalan Government (Govern) convened a follow-up meeting on the railway situation at the Department of Territory at seven in the morning. The agreement to partially unblock the strike was reached the previous afternoon, mediated by the Minister of Territory, Sílvia Paneque, and involving the Semaf union.
This crisis affected approximately 400,000 people who rely on the rail system, causing productive tensions due to workplace absenteeism on Wednesday and Thursday. Despite the resumption, the official Rodalies website crashed early on, forcing the operator to use social media to inform users about the circulation of the 13 lines.
