The Jean Leon winery in Torrelavit (Alt Penedès) has turned the labels of its Vinya La Scala Gran Reserva wine into art pieces since the 1979 vintage, featuring contributions from artists like Antoni Tàpies and Javier Mariscal.

The project, initiated decades ago by the Penedès winery Jean Leon to link the world of viticulture and art, has become a reference point transcending Penedès and Catalonia.
Internationally renowned Catalan artists have designed the labels for the emblematic Vinya la Scala Gran Reserva from the Torrelavit winery, its most iconic wine. The initiative began with Josep Maria Subirachs, who created the first artistic label for the 1979 vintage.

The Vinya La Scala Gran Reserva label collection is a testament to the fusion between wine tradition and Catalan artistic avant-garde.

The list of globally prestigious names includes figures such as Ràfols Casamada, Javier Mariscal, Josep Guinovart, Hernández Pijoan, and, more recently, Assumpció Mateu for the 2018 vintage. Antoni Tàpies left his personal mark on the 1997 vintage label with a work titled Bodegón.
The bottles featuring the original creations are exhibited and can be visited at the Jean Leon winery. The chosen themes are varied, including references to Parc Güell in Barcelona (by Josep Moscardó) and New York (by Javier Mariscal and Josep Martí Bofarull).
