The Servei Català de Trànsit confirmed that the Ministry of Transport is closing the AP-7 southbound again, on the stretch between Martorell and Sant Sadurní d'Anoia, due to ongoing embankment works in Gelida, with an expected duration of one week.

The director of the Servei Català de Trànsit, Ramon Lamiel, reported that the closure is necessary to expand the earth scraping work being carried out on the roadside near Gelida. This task, which aims to find stable ground on the slope, now requires occupying the right lane of the motorway as well.

"They are asking us to cut it for the execution of the work and for safety."

Ramon Lamiel · Director of Servei Català de Trànsit
In order to move the heavy machinery to the left lane and execute the work safely, the total closure of the southbound route between Martorell and Sant Sadurní d'Anoia is essential. Lamiel highlighted that the previous traffic diversion operation, which yielded good results (a 20% reduction on the B-23 and a 100% increase on the free C-32), will be repeated.
The Traffic director reminded drivers that the recommended alternative routes are the C-32 (which will be free again), the B-24, the N-340, the A-2, and the C-15, to rejoin the AP-7 at Vilafranca. Soon, the Secretary of State José Antonio Santano will appear to detail the technical characteristics of the ongoing work.
