The Mossos d'Esquadra police force arrested two men aged 24 and 26 on March 19 after discovering 1,606 marijuana plants inside an industrial warehouse in El Pla del Penedès.

The investigation began when authorities noticed irregular energy consumption patterns. Despite the warehouse showing no signs of business activity, the electrical grid was being heavily used, suggesting a fraudulent connection to power the illegal crop's ventilation and lighting systems.
Officers from Vilafranca and Sant Sadurní seized professional equipment, including high-intensity lamps, air filters, and processing machinery. The suspects, who had no prior criminal records, were brought before the duty court in Vilafranca del Penedès.
