The Vilafranca del Penedès Town Council expects to open the new Joana Raspall library by the end of 2026, following a sixteen-month renovation of the historic Nau Cortina building.

Mayor Francisco Romero visited the 1,414-square-meter facility this Monday. The library will accommodate up to 600 people and house 20,000 documents, offering modern spaces for study, group work, and cultural activities in the Sarriera street area.
The project, costing 4.2 million euros, was 74% funded by the European Union and the Barcelona Provincial Council. It features 72 photovoltaic panels and a rainwater harvesting system for the new adjacent public square.
