A man arrested for possessing an illegal weapons arsenal in Miami Platja was released on 12,000 euro bail by a Reus judge, six months after his arrest last July.

After half a year in preventive detention, the magistrate ordered the provisional release of the accused, who was arrested on July 1, 2025. Conditions include the payment of a 12,000 euro bond, designating a fixed address for notifications, and the obligation to appear every Monday at the nearest court. Furthermore, his passport has been withdrawn, and he is prohibited from leaving Spain without judicial authorization.

The magistrate acknowledges that the accused's conduct carries serious penalties, which increases the risk of flight, but takes into account the time elapsed and the fact that the analysis of the weapons will still take some time.

The arsenal seized at his home in Miami Platja included two semi-automatic pistols, 26 long guns, and a large amount of ammunition. Among the items found was extremely dangerous material, such as a homemade hand grenade, anti-tank projectiles, and four mortar grenades, some dating back to the Spanish Civil War. Experts classified this arsenal as extremely dangerous due to its destructive potential in the event of accidental detonation.
The investigation that led to this discovery began in Vilafranca del Penedès on February 7, 2025, following a shooting near a McDonald’s establishment. Investigators suspected the incident was related to the purchase of marijuana. Analysis of the mobile phone of one of the individuals detained in that case revealed the connection to arms dealing and the arsenal in Miami Platja.
