Intense snowfall on Thursday, February 5, 2026, forced drivers to use snow chains on a dozen roads in the Catalan Pyrenees and Andorra, affecting low altitudes like La Seu d'Urgell.

This snowfall confirms the current season as the snowiest winter in recent years across the Catalan Pyrenees. Precipitation exceeded initial forecasts, reaching La Seu d'Urgell, below 700 meters of altitude, where snow fell briefly but intensely past two in the afternoon on Thursday.
The Catalan Traffic Service (Servei Català de Trànsit) reported at midday the necessity of chains on at least ten routes. Affected roads included the N-260, both at the Port del Cantó (between Montferrer i Castellbò and Soriguera) and Perves. Equipment was also required on the C-28 to cross Bonaigua and the N-230 between Vilaller and Vielha.

The road situation normalized in most areas by early afternoon, although the Coll de la Creueta required clearing until 5 p.m.

The day was also complicated in Andorra, where the snow fell with greater intensity. The Mobility Agency made the use of equipment mandatory across the entire road network starting from Andorra la Vella. However, most routes were quickly cleared, with the obligation remaining only on high mountain sections such as the Port d'Envalira (CG2).
