The Alt Urgell Comarcal Council has unanimously approved the transfer of the historical documentation of the PEUSA company to the Comarcal Archive, a crucial step in preserving the energy history of the region.

This decision, made during last Thursday's ordinary session, will make the documentation of a century-old company, which has been fundamental for the electricity supply of La Seu d'Urgell, Alt Urgell, and part of Cerdanya, accessible to the public. According to Julio Quílez, director of the Comarcal Archive, the collection transcends corporate interest, offering insight into the arrival of electricity, the expansion of networks, the relationship with local councils and consumers, and the harnessing of the Valira river.

"It is a first-rate source for studies of business history, technology, labor, landscape, and industrial heritage, and will allow us to reconstruct a local history of energy that would be difficult to document through other means."

The PEUSA collection includes a wide variety of documents, from minute books and project files to blueprints, contracts, correspondence, photographs, and communication campaigns. Once its entry into the Archive is formalized, the documentation will be inventoried, indexed, and digitized, facilitating research into economic modernization, energy transition, self-consumption, and electric mobility in the region.

"The sensitivity of wanting to preserve its century-old history and, at the same time, the generosity of making it available to society."

Josefina Lladós · President of the Comarcal Council
The president of the Comarcal Council, Josefina Lladós, highlighted the importance of PEUSA's decision, emphasizing its value for the preservation of local history. In the same April session, the Council also approved the temporary transfer of the access road to Castellbò castle for its restoration, with a budget of €150,000, as part of the POCTEFA-PYRÉPAT project. Additionally, the extension of school transport contracts until the 2026-2027 academic year was validated, along with an agreement with the Ribera d'Urgellet Town Council for the second phase of stabilizing a landslide on the Castellar de Tost road.
Finally, this plenary session saw the first participation of Carme Ribó, mayor of Alàs i Cerc, as a new councilor for the Junts group, replacing Jordi Gutiérrez, who resigned for professional reasons.
