The Alt Urgell region has reported a significant rise in residential construction during 2025, with 82 new homes started, including 47 in the town of La Seu d'Urgell.

According to the Association of Developers of Catalonia (APCE), the Pyrenees region is experiencing a shift in housing usage. The director of the entity, Marc Torrent, noted during a meeting in Puigcerdà that the distinction between primary and secondary homes is fading due to the rise of remote working.

"Remote work has led to an increase in the length of stay in homes that were originally acquired for holiday use."

Market data shows that 194 property sales were completed in Alt Urgell by the third quarter of 2025. While Cerdanya remains the most dynamic area with 270 homes under construction, Alt Urgell is steadily recovering its production levels to meet local demand.
