From July 24th to 28th, the group from Alt Urgell was the sole Catalan ensemble at this event organized by CIOFF. Their performance stood out for its distinctiveness compared to the dance styles of other participating countries, including Guam, Venezuela, Colombia, Kazakhstan, Georgia, Costa Rica, Cuba, and Panama, as well as the Bulgarian hosts.
This initiative seeks to introduce Catalan culture to a country where it rarely has the opportunity to be experienced, and notably, at an international festival that had never before hosted an International Gathering of Catalan Culture. The participation of 14 group members highlights the ensemble's vitality and its capacity to strengthen and consolidate itself through such activities.
The Bastoners de Peramola, recognized as the only group in Alt Urgell and one of the few in the Alt Pirineu, received support from the Generalitat, the Provincial Council of Lleida, the Institut d’Estudis Ilerdencs, the Institut per al Desenvolupament de l’Alt Pirineu i Aran (IDAPA), and the Peramola City Council, enabling their seventh international participation in the last six years.
