Minister Òscar Ordeig presented the new Institute of Agri-Food Research and Technology (IRTA) center for the Pyrenees this February 19 in la Seu d'Urgell.

The new research facility will be permanently located in ca l'Armenter, a Gothic building in the heart of the city. Initially, operations will start at the Casa dels Parcs dels Pirineus to address a historical regional need.

"It is a Pyrenean project, not a project of la Seu d'Urgell, and that is why I ask for a broad perspective."

Òscar Ordeig · Minister of Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries and Food
The IRTA Pyrenees will focus on agri-food value chains and agroforestry bioeconomy, aiming to adapt the sector to climate change and create jobs for young people in the Alt Urgell region.
