The motorcycle rider, who was airlifted in critical condition to the hospital in the capital of Alt Urgell, could not survive the severity of his injuries. The five occupants of the involved car were unharmed. The Catalan Traffic Service (SCT) reported the death yesterday.
The accident occurred at 19:29 on the N-145 at kilometer 0.3, on the outskirts of La Seu d'Urgell towards Andorra. In addition to the SEM ambulance, a medicalized helicopter, fire department units, and Mossos d'Esquadra patrols were deployed. The latter have launched an investigation to determine the causes of the crash. The road was closed for hours, causing significant traffic delays.
This tragic event brings the total number of motorcyclist fatalities in the Lleida region to four in less than two weeks. Previous accidents occurred in Montferrer i Castellbò, Pardinyes, and Seròs. So far this year, eleven people have lost their lives in traffic accidents in the Lleida province, five of whom were motorcyclists.
Additionally, another accident occurred yesterday on the L-200 road between Torregrossa and Miralcamp, resulting in one injury. In Andorra, a child was seriously injured in a hit-and-run incident in Canillo and was airlifted to Sant Joan de Déu Hospital in Barcelona.
