The Mossos d'Esquadra are investigating the death of a baby that occurred last March in Alt Urgell, classified as a possible homicide at the request of the courts in La Seu d'Urgell.

The investigation, requested by one of the two instruction courts in La Seu d'Urgell, is being handled by the Criminal Investigation Area (AIC) of the Alt Pirineu i Aran Police Region. Despite the seriousness of the hypothesis, no arrests have been made in connection with the case so far.
The main focus of the police inquiry is to clarify the exact circumstances of the death. Reports suggest that the young woman under investigation may have concealed her pregnancy until the moment of delivery, which took place last March.

The goal is to determine whether the newborn was stillborn or if, conversely, the baby died after birth, and in the latter case, the specific circumstances of the death are being investigated.

The Mossos are also analyzing the incident as a possible case of domestic violence. If this classification is confirmed, it would be the second such case recorded this year in the Lleida demarcation, and the first in the Alt Pirineu area.
The previous case of fatal domestic violence in the demarcation occurred on May 9 in Els Alamús, where a 69-year-old man allegedly died from an insulin overdose. His 45-year-old son was arrested as the presumed perpetrator, although he was released on bail last September.
