The festivities began on Monday evening with a costume parade in front of the Oliana Town Hall. More than two hundred participants and ten different groups showcased creative outfits ranging from current events to fantasy themes.
“"What we want to do is a carnival for the local people, looking for activities that encourage residents to come out."
On Tuesday morning, the celebration continued with a traditional community lunch for four hundred people. The menu featured local dishes such as trinxat and traditional sausages, maintaining the essence of the festival while adapting to modern times.
Carnival events across the Alt Urgell and the Pyrenees will conclude this Ash Wednesday with the symbolic burning of the Carnival King and the burial of the sardine.
