These actions, part of the 'Oliana t'acompanya' project, aim to empower seniors and prevent unwanted loneliness. The mobile application, developed by the company Bleta, is specifically designed for older users, featuring large icons and a direct communication channel with the community, facilitating access to municipal activities, emergency alerts, and games.
In parallel, an old bar and two adjacent premises are being renovated to create Espai La Rasa, an intergenerational civic center. This new facility will host workshops on memory, stretching, and photography, with the intention of publishing a book featuring old images and the oral history of residents. The goal is for it to be a meeting point for all ages, while prioritizing seniors.
“"We have a very active retirees' center, but there are people who don't feel old. The will is to create a community resource where everyone can find their space."
Mayor Ricard Pérez highlighted the importance of these initiatives in improving communication and socialization, citing the success of the previous project 'Connecta en gran', which reduced 'multi-frequent' visits to the local primary care center. There are also plans to offer communal meals in the future, as nutrition is often affected during periods of low mood.
The investment in the center's renovation ranges between 20,000 and 30,000 euros. The success of other intergenerational projects, such as one on medicinal plant dissemination where young people and expert women collaborate, serves as inspiration for Espai La Rasa. Residents like Maria March, Isabel Maldonado, and Pilar Quingles have expressed their enthusiasm for these new tools, considering them a 'before and after' for the community.
