The Town Council of la Vansa i Fórnols has successfully attracted 35 new residents by creating a pool of 18 public housing units, becoming a model against rural depopulation.

The municipal strategy to reverse population loss in this Alt Urgell village has yielded significant results. Mayor Pep Camps emphasized that the housing offer focuses strictly on primary residences. A key milestone was the 2022 purchase of the Hortal de Cornellana building.

"We can affirm that we have significantly increased our census because it is always housing for primary residence."

As public stock runs low, the council is now focusing on private owners. Urban Planning Councilor Alfons Ferrer confirmed the first three-way contract in Fórnols to bring empty private homes into the social rental market with local government guarantees.
