The Institute of Ilerdenses Studies (IEI) is promoting the Ricard Viñes in the territory series with talks and concerts in the High Pyrenees, starting July 24 in Coll de Nargó, to celebrate the pianist's 150th birthday.

The project Ricard Viñes al territori, curated by Màrius Bernadó, is part of the Viñes Year, which commemorates the 150th anniversary of the birth of the musician from Lleida. The main goal is to disseminate the life and work of the pianist, reinforce his artistic legacy, and highlight the role of Lleida in the history of European music, while boosting culturally underserved areas.

The cycle aims to revitalize areas with limited stable cultural offerings, with the desire to democratize access to culture and generate new links between heritage, music, and the territory.

Among the dozen municipalities hosting events, the Pyrenean stops stand out: Coll de Nargó (July 24), el Pont de Suert (September 24), Tremp (October 14), and the final event in Esterri d'Àneu (December 4). The sessions will be led by UdL professors such as Màrius Bernadó and Esther Solé, and will feature pianists like Enric Prió and Santi Riu.
The lecture in Alt Urgell will take place at the Museu Dinosfera in Coll de Nargó, at six in the afternoon, and will be given by Esther Solé. Ricard Viñes i Roda, born in Lleida in 1875, was a key pianist, friend and interpreter of composers such as Debussy, Ravel, Albéniz, and Falla, developing a brilliant international career.
