This initiative, which will operate from Mondays to Fridays, primarily aims to improve connectivity between the Val d'Aran and Alta Ribagorça, promoting sustainable mobility and expanding public transport options in the Pyrenean region.
The launch of this service, operated by the company ALSA, involves an estimated annual investment of 125,000 euros. It is part of a study to improve road public transport in Alta Ribagorça, commissioned by the Conselh Generau d’Aran and developed in collaboration with the Consell Comarcal de l’Alta Ribagorça and local municipalities.
Angelina Cases, Conselhèra de Coneixement for the Conselh Generau d’Aran, highlighted the service's importance: «This service strengthens communication between Aran and Ribagorça, a necessary action for the daily commutes of workers, students, and residents on weekdays.» She added that «the Conselh Generau considers it an indispensable need» and that the demand has been «persistently» maintained to facilitate regular travel between both regions.
The new line will offer four daily departures and four returns. The first service from El Pont de Suert will depart at 7:00 AM, arriving in Vielha before 8:00 AM, designed to facilitate commutes for work, education, and administrative purposes. The last service from Vielha will depart at 6:15 PM, ensuring adequate coverage throughout the day.
Through this initiative, the Departament de Territori, Habitatge i Transició Ecològica continues to advance in improving the public transport network in the Pyrenees and Aran, aiming for more efficient, accessible, and sustainable mobility, and reinforcing territorial cohesion among mountain municipalities.
