The 17th edition of the Cara Amon will be held in Barruera, in the Vall de Boí, and will serve as the Catalan Vertical Race Championship, as well as the second race of the 16th FEEC Catalan Vertical Cup. This event, known for its toughness, features a 4.7 km course with nearly 1,400 meters of positive elevation gain and gradients reaching 50%.
The Cara Amon has hosted international competitions, including the KV World Championship in 2021. In 2025, it was a Catalan Cup race with victories by Jordi Alís and Rosa Navarro. The current Catalan champions are Jordi Bolet and Cristina Vilarnau, while Arnau Aranda and Pere Rullan are notable for having won in three previous editions.
Registration for the vertical race will be open until next Tuesday, May 26th. In the men's category, Jordi Bolet is tipped as the favorite to retain the title, with Oriol Marin and Roger Fíguls as his main rivals. In the women's category, Lídia Puyals will aim for her first national championship against a strong field of specialists including Anna Huguet, Anna Pujol, and Rosa Maria Nieto.
The following day, Saturday, May 30th, the Trail Comaminyana will take place, making its debut in the Catalan Mountain Running Cup as the second event on the calendar. This 21K race offers a technical and alpine route through the Vall de Boí, ascending to the Comaminyana peak.
The current leaders of the Catalan Cup, Laura Figueiredo and Oriol Marin, arrive in Alta Ribagorça following their victories at the Selva Trail.
