The town of El Pont de Suert may finally benefit from the Rural Municipalities Statute following a modification in the fiscal measures law accompanying the Generalitat's new budget proposal.

The capital of Alta Ribagorça was excluded from the original list last year for failing to meet population growth criteria. Despite a low density of 16.4 inhabitants per square kilometer, the town grew by 2.67% between 2014 and 2024.
The new legislative proposal allows rural county capitals with a population between 2,000 and 3,000 residents to apply for inclusion, even if they do not meet strict density or negative growth requirements.

"I highly value the Government's effort to include this rectification in the accompanying law."
