Around fifty parents and students from the Institut del Pont de Suert mobilized on Monday in front of the Regional Council to protest the imposed school bus schedule, linked to the new dining service.

Previously, the center did not have a canteen, and school transport departed at 3:15 PM. With the implementation of the dining service, the bus now leaves at 4:30 PM. Families complain that this change forces them to use the canteen service, which in certain cases entails an “unforeseen economic expense.”

"Yes to the canteen, but with the right to decide on its use and the schedules for returning home."

Meritxell Ramon · Mother opposing the new schedule
The protesters argue that the new schedule represents a “radical change” that disrupts study time, leisure, and family reconciliation. Furthermore, they point out that the service creates differences with other administrations, such as those in Aragón and Pallars Jussà, which maintain the 3:15 PM pickup option.
During the protest, which included a packed lunch in front of the Consell Comarcal de l’Alta Ribagorça, slogans were chanted in defense of a “healthy schedule.” According to Meritxell Ramon, the current schedule does not consider recommended eating times, as some students arrive home between 5:00 PM and 5:30 PM. Families demand the recovery of the 3:15 PM transport service for those who do not use the canteen, while keeping the 4:30 PM service for the others.
The families have announced that protests will continue until the Department of Education offers a solution. A meeting between parents and department representatives is scheduled for Friday to address the situation.
