The La Vall de Boí Town Council has launched an initiative to identify owners interested in rehabilitating their homes and allocating them to the rental market, aiming to combat depopulation and access grants from the Diputació de Lleida.

This measure seeks to revitalize the stock of empty homes in the locality, offering owners the possibility of ceding their properties to the municipality or managing them through other formulas. The main purpose is to incentivize the rental supply and, at the same time, curb population loss in the Alta Ribagorça region.
The council aims to benefit from a subsidy line from the Diputació de Lleida, which could cover up to 90% of the rehabilitation works' cost, with a maximum limit of 100,000 euros per dwelling. These grants are crucial to make renovation projects viable, which might otherwise be unaffordable for many owners.
To access these subsidies, homes must meet certain requirements. They must have been vacant for a minimum period of two years, and once rehabilitated, they must be used as habitual residences. Furthermore, properties renovated through this initiative will have to remain on the rental market for a determined period, thus ensuring their social function.
