This Tuesday, the Capellades market featured a dual environmental sustainability action. An information agent from the Diputació de Barcelona addressed stallholders to explain the polluting impact of plastic bags and promote the use of alternative materials for carrying purchases.
Concurrently, an information booth was set up for shoppers, encouraging the use of reusable materials such as raffia, cloth, or mesh bags, and containers. This campaign, named Sustainable Weekly Markets, aims to highlight the impact of single-use packaging and raise awareness about the need to reduce its use by promoting more sustainable alternatives.
“"To encourage this sustainability, participants could complete the information by spinning a roulette wheel offering various reusable gifts."
The initiative, driven by the Area of Commerce and Consumption of the Diputació de Barcelona, seeks to demonstrate the impact of single-use packaging and foster more sustainable practices among market attendees.
