The first of the companies contracted by the City Council has commenced asbestos conditioning work at Porto 19, a preliminary step for safely removing this material. The operations will continue with the remaining blocks on the street. Two other companies will begin asbestos removal in a few weeks on Av. Costa Brava and Mediterrània.
This initial phase involves the removal of asbestos from 127 building blocks, representing the largest asbestos removal operation undertaken in Europe. During the execution of the work, maximum cooperation from co-owners is requested to ensure safety.
Various safety and cooperation measures are established, including keeping windows near the pipes closed, not using air conditioning units connected to the facade, removing clotheslines and awnings, and respecting safety restrictions. Boilers and other equipment connected to the pipes subject to the work must be disconnected by the owners beforehand.
A maximum duration of three days per community is anticipated, provided there are no incidents, adverse weather conditions, or technical difficulties. The City Council will inform about parking disruptions, particularly at the beginning of Algarve street, which will be duly signposted.
Inquiries and incidents can be communicated via WhatsApp at 930 485 573 or through an online form with a QR code. The City Council urges the utmost cooperation from all residents to ensure the safe and efficient progress of the work.
