The flames, which started around 4:27 PM this Monday, have already ravaged 225 hectares, primarily forest land. Firefighters have deployed 48 ground crews and six aerial units to try and control the fire, which is advancing between Carme and La Pobla de Claramunt.
The situation necessitated the dispatch of ES-Alert warnings to mobile phones, extending the confinement measure to municipalities including the southern area of Igualada, Vilanova del Camí, Santa Margarida de Montbui, and Castellolí. Authorities are urging residents to close doors and windows and avoid going outside.
Due to the fire, Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat service has been suspended on lines R6 and R60 between La Pobla de Claramunt and Igualada.
This is one of three significant forest fires active in Catalonia today, alongside those declared in Sentmenat (Vallès Occidental) and Artesa de Segre (Noguera), on a day marked by a heatwave and maximum fire risk.
