The Catalan Parliament approved a proposal this March to implement a comprehensive conservation plan for historic paper mills in the Anoia and Alt Penedès regions, led by Junts per Catalunya.

The plan aims to stop the decay of these industrial buildings and promote new uses to ensure their survival. A joint commission involving the Barcelona Provincial Council and local town halls will be established to draft a Master Plan for their restoration.

"Paper mills are living history of Catalan industrialization. We cannot allow them to be lost."

Montse Ortiz · Member of Parliament
Furthermore, the resolution supports the Capellades Paper Mill Museum in its bid to have these sites recognized as UNESCO World Heritage, highlighting their unique contribution to the global history of paper production.
