Strong winds in Anoia reach 90 km/h causing over sixty incidents

The Meteorological Service of Catalonia recorded wind gusts of up to 90 km/h in els Hostalets de Pierola this Wednesday, during an episode that has already triggered 68 emergency calls.

Data from the Meteorological Service of Catalonia confirms that the highest wind speed during this episode was recorded in els Hostalets de Pierola, in the Anoia region. Additionally, the Montserrat-Sant Dimes station reached gusts of 86 km/h as part of the windstorm affecting several areas of the Catalan territory.
As of seven o'clock this Wednesday morning, the Generalitat Fire Department has responded to a total of 68 wind-related incidents. Most operations were concentrated in the North Emergency Region, with 33 services, followed by the South Region and Tarragona. The 112 emergency hotline received 99 calls, mainly from Barcelonès, Vallès Oriental, and Vallès Occidental.
In response to this situation, Civil Protection is maintaining the Ventcat plan alert. Forecasts indicate that intense winds could spread to the rest of Catalonia starting this Thursday, leading authorities to urge extreme caution during travel and outdoor activities to prevent accidents.
