This health reorganization, driven by a citizen request and approved by the Government, seeks to adjust the healthcare organization to the territorial reality and mobility habits of the population of El Bruc. The local clinic will continue to be the primary care proximity center, but the main center outside of El Bruc's operating hours will be the Local Clinic of La Pobla de Claramunt.
Regarding urgent care, the CAP Anoia, located in Igualada, will cover nighttime and holiday emergencies. The Hospital Universitari d'Igualada replaces the Hospital de Martorell as the reference hospital. Tertiary hospitals for complex cases will continue to be mainly the Hospital Universitari de Bellvitge for adults and the Hospital Sant Joan de Déu for children.
Mental health services in the Penedès Health Region are managed by the Consorci Sanitari de l'Anoia, with community centers in Igualada. Mental health hospitalization and emergencies will remain at the Fundació Hospitalàries Martorell. Intermediate care will be provided by the Consorci Sanitari de l'Anoia, the Fundació Sanitària Sant Josep, the Hospital de dia Sant Jordi, or the Consorci Sociosanitari d'Igualada, all located in Igualada.
Individuals with ongoing medical procedures can continue at their current centers until discharge or for a maximum of one year. From October 1, 2026, new procedures will be handled by centers within the Penedès Health Region. The change will not result in any loss of patient information, as clinical histories are shared within Catalonia's public health system.
The delimitation of the Basic Health Area was published in the Official Gazette of the Generalitat de Catalunya on July 31, 2026. El Bruc, despite belonging to the Anoia region, was previously part of the Esparreguera Basic Health Area (Baix Llobregat). This change is part of Order SLT/149/2026.
