The city of Igualada hosted an institutional visit on September 28 by the Minister of Health of the Government of Andorra, Helena Mas. The main objective of the day was to strengthen collaboration ties between the Principality and the capital of Anoia.
The visit began at the City Hall (Casa Consistorial), where the minister was received by the mayor and members of the governing team. After signing the city's Book of Honor and a working meeting, the Andorran delegation proceeded to the Igualada University Hospital.
At the hospital, the delegation gained firsthand knowledge of the healthcare and teaching model of the Consorci Sanitari de l’Anoia (CSA). The organization's main projects were presented, with a focus on promoting teaching and research. This included highlighting the center's link with the University of Lleida (UdL) since 2020 for the practical training of Nursing, Physiotherapy, and Nutrition students, as well as the recent establishment of the UdL's Medical Teaching Unit in 2026.
The hospital visit included a tour of the facilities, showcasing the latest investments in infrastructure and technology, such as the new Obstetrics Unit, the Multipurpose Medical Day Hospital, and the Oncology Day Hospital.
In the afternoon, the delegation moved to the Health Sciences Building of the Igualada-UdL University Campus. There, they were welcomed by Grau Baquero, Cristian Solé, and representatives from the FIF, who presented the campus's training model, with a strong emphasis on the methodology based on clinical simulation.
The day concluded with a visit to the innovative 4D Health center, where the delegation learned about the facilities and advanced simulation tools used for training high-performance future healthcare professionals.
