Mossos d’Esquadra agents arrested two men, aged 22 and 31, last Wednesday, January 28, in la Torre de Claramunt for cultivating 1,342 marijuana plants inside a house.

The investigation, initiated in mid-December by the Investigation Unit of the Igualada police station, culminated in the search of a home where the existence of intensive cannabis cultivation was suspected.
During the operation, agents located 1,342 marijuana plants distributed across three dedicated growing rooms, in addition to a bag containing 50 grams of buds ready for sale.
The indoor installation was highly sophisticated, including light screens, fans, odor filters, air conditioning, and extractors. This infrastructure was illegally connected to the grid, with an electrical consumption equivalent to that of an entire apartment block, posing a serious fire risk to the neighborhood.
The two detainees were brought before the duty investigating court in Igualada the same Wednesday. According to the police, criminal organizations routinely use isolated houses or industrial warehouses for this type of activity, and the Mossos had previously dismantled two plantations in this same house during 2020 and 2025.
