Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat de Catalunya (FGC) is undertaking drainage improvement works along the embankment of the Llobregat-Anoia line as it passes through Piera and a section of the municipality of Masquefa. The project, with an estimated duration of eight and a half months, aims to prevent erosion, soil runoff, and occasional flooding.

The work carried out by FGC in Piera aims to correct problems arising from the lack of longitudinal drainage at certain points of the infrastructure. During heavy rainfall, this situation can cause erosion of slopes, soil runoff, accumulation of materials on the ballast, and occasional flooding of the railway platform.
In the Piera section, FGC will construct new platform and crest ditches to collect water from adjacent land and channel it to existing transversal drainage works. The work also includes the punctual widening of the railway platform and the excavation of new slopes to install these ditches, as well as cleaning and clearing the section and the inlets of existing drainage systems.
During the execution of the works, the removal and subsequent replacement of the railway fence is planned, as well as the protection or restoration of line elements and installations that may be affected. In the Piera area, the project involves approximately 8,673 m² of temporary occupation and 1,702 m² of expropriations, necessary for executing the widenings, slopes, and ditches, and for facilitating access for machinery.
The Piera Town Council is monitoring the work and maintaining contact with FGC regarding the project's development and the various elements within the operational area.
