The 'Montbui Gran' program by the Santa Margarida de Montbui City Council has held a fellowship lunch at Mont-Àgora, featuring an emotional tribute to couples celebrating their Golden Anniversaries.

The 'Montbui Gran' activity program, promoted by the Department of Senior Citizens of the Santa Margarida de Montbui City Council, continues with good participation. Last Sunday, Mont-Àgora hosted the Montbui Gran Lunch, one of the most significant events, with over a hundred attendees. The Councilor for Senior Citizens, Judit Berbel, highlighted the role of the elderly in society.
One of the most emotional moments was the tribute to the Golden Anniversaries, dedicated to couples from Santa Margarida de Montbui celebrating 50 years of marriage or cohabitation. The honored couples received a commemorative gift and a bouquet of flowers. Among them, couples Pedro Rojo Peña and Micaela Flores Berloso; Manuel Arias Ibáñez and Rafaela Cortijo Guillén; Juan Antonio Carreño Fernández and Encarnación Picón Carrillo; Juan José Hernando Sánchez and Gloria Carrasco Holgado; Manuel Pallarés Martí and Iluminada Martínez Pagán; and Francisco Jiménez Salgado and María del Prado Redón Alcántara were recognized in person. The couple Juan García and Marcela Pérez could not attend due to force majeure.
The event also included interventions from Father Josep Maria Pujol, responsible for the parish of Santa Margarida, and the mayor of Santa Margarida de Montbui, Jesús Miguel Juárez. The mayor emphasized "the importance of small gestures from good people that define what coexistence is," contrasting it with "discourses of hate, of fear, of going each one their own way," and reaffirmed the commitment to "coexistence, to unite, not to divide. We are committed to living in community, which means helping, helping, and helping."
The Montbui Gran Lunch concluded with an afternoon of music and dancing featuring musician Gabi, in a festive atmosphere.
The 'Montbui Gran' program has also included other recent activities, such as an active and healthy morning on Thursday, October 1st, coinciding with the International Day of Older Persons, which included a maintenance gymnastics session at the Catalunya promenade amphitheater and the reading of the Manifesto for the International Day of Older Persons by Councilor Judit Berbel. Additionally, a cultural outing to Barcelona allowed about fifty residents to discover the Modernist Complex of Sant Pau and the G Palau Güell.
Other recent activities include a Ceramics Workshop at the La Vinícola Civic Center, physical activity sessions and healthy breakfasts at the Catalunya promenade amphitheater and Mont-Àgora, and a talk on healthy eating by Alba Creus, a dietitian-nutritionist from CAP Montbui.
The program continues until October 17th with offerings such as informational talks on the Advance Health Care Directive (DVA) by Núria Colomer, first aid workshops led by Abraham Moya from the Red Cross, and facial yoga and gentle pilates workshops. Aquagym tasters and the theatrical performance "Les dones del 36" by Joan Valentí and David Pintó will also be presented on October 17th at Mont-Àgora.
Activities requiring prior registration can be completed at the CCC La Vinícola activity point. The Montbui Gran program aims to encourage the participation of older adults in recreational, cultural, healthy, and leisure activities, promoting spaces for relationship building and community coexistence.
