The event brought together dozens of local residents and numerous elected officials from the municipal corporation, who wished to express their condolences for the fatalities and show their support for the injured and their families.
The minute of silence was held as a gesture of respect and solidarity in the face of the severity of the incident, caused by the collision of two high-speed trains, one from Renfe and another from the company Iryo, on the railway line between Madrid and Seville.
The initiative is part of the call from the Associació Catalana de Municipis (ACM) and the Federació de Municipis de Catalunya (FMC), which urged town councils across Catalonia to participate in this collective gesture of mourning.
