The Department of Territory, Housing and Ecological Transition has granted 357,950 euros to the Alt Pirineu and Aran regions to subsidize the maintenance of municipal non-paved paths executed between 2024 and 2025.

This subsidy line, granted for the third consecutive year, aims to support conservation actions on the extensive mountain path network, where maintenance costs are particularly high. These actions seek to promote activities that use the network in a manner respectful of the natural environment.
The direct beneficiaries of the aid are the nine county councils in the mountain area and the Conselh Generau d’Aran, which act by delegation or management assignment from the municipalities, which are the path owners. The subsidies are granted a posteriori, covering actions carried out between September 16, 2024, and September 15, 2025.
The range of eligible actions is broad. It includes clearing and cleaning vegetation that obstructs passage, restoring dry stone walls, reviewing continuity or directional signage, and maintaining associated elements such as railings, steps, and footbridges. The relocation of indicator posts fallen due to weather or vandalism is also covered.
Expenses can include both external contracting and execution using own resources. In the latter case, costs such as fuel acquisition, machinery tune-up, material purchase (paint, posts), tool renting, and own personnel costs can be subsidized.
