The event, held this Monday afternoon, was centered around the theme “6 poets of the Pyrenees, reading aloud,” emphasizing the literary richness of the area. The initiative is part of the Sant Jordi celebration, a day that the Generalitat de Catalunya has sought to highlight this year under the premise that “Sant Jordi makes us better and transforms us.”
“"Sant Jordi is us, coming together to commemorate a festival where books and roses are at the center, and this is its greatness."
The government delegate in the territory underscored the relevance of both the Aranese and Catalan languages, and of reading, as fundamental pillars of the day. She also emphasized the cultural richness of Alt Pirineu i Aran, noting that one of the event's objectives was to champion the region's own languages and the poets who have cultivated them.
Around forty people attended the event, including institutional representatives and members of the social, educational, and cultural fabric of the vegueria. Several participants were tasked with reading aloud poems by authors from Alt Pirineu i Aran, such as Xavi Gutiérrez (Aran), mossèn Anton Navarro (Alta Ribagorça), Rosa Casas (Cerdanya), and Meritxell Nus (Pallars Sobirà). Verses by Albert Puiggròs (Pallars Jussà) and Josep Espunyes (Alt Urgell) were also read.
The presentation of the works was led by figures such as the director of the Territorial Services of Linguistic Policy and the director of the Territorial Services of Culture. Students from the Institut Hug Roger III de Sort also actively participated in the readings, enriching the commemoration. The event's organization was a result of the collaboration between the Territorial Delegation of the Government in Alt Pirineu i Aran and the Territorial Services of Culture.
