The Minister of Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries and Food, Òscar Ordeig, and the Síndica of Aran, Maria Vergés, agreed on January 9 to transfer the forestry management competence to the Conselh Generau.

The meeting between Minister Òscar Ordeig and Síndica Maria Vergés, accompanied by Vice-Síndics Francés Bruna and Oriol Sala, and Infrastructure Minister José Luis Boya, concluded with the agreement to transfer forestry management competence. This measure complies with the special regime of Aran, aiming to reinforce self-government and improve the management of the territory's natural resources.

"Energy transition and territorial management, as well as the diversification of the economy, are key for Aran. This transfer will allow us to continue with this strategic line."

Maria Vergés · Síndica of Aran
The Government of Aran had previously submitted a proposal to the Department of Agriculture to achieve this transfer agreement. The main goal is to consolidate the development of forestry management in the Val d’Aran and ensure its continuity regarding the energy transition.

"Working to guarantee good forest management is a priority for the country and a priority for this Government."

Òscar Ordeig · Minister of Agriculture
In addition to forestry management, both institutions agreed on the regularization of outstanding debt related to hunting and fishing licenses. A system of fixed annual transfers was also established in favor of the Conselh Generau d’Aran for the amounts corresponding to licenses issued to residents in the Val d’Aran.
