The new containers, manufactured by the company Nord Engineering, stand out for their increased storage capacity, modern and functional design, and a refined aesthetic that will allow them to be integrated more harmoniously into the urban environment of Aran villages. This renovation addresses the need to adapt waste collection infrastructure to current demands.
The Councilor for Environmental Management, Oriol Sala, highlights the importance of this intervention: «It was necessary to take this step. In many of our villages, we still had containers over thirty years old, which served their purpose for a long time but no longer met current needs. With this renewal, we aim to offer a more modern, efficient service adapted to the reality of the Val d’Aran».
One of the main advantages of the new containers is their larger capacity, which will provide more space for waste disposal and improve the functionality of collection points. The project also emphasizes aesthetics and the integration of containers into the urban landscape, a crucial aspect in a territory like the Val d’Aran.
«Containers are elements we see every day, present in our streets and squares, and therefore, they are also part of our villages' image. We cannot consider them merely as receptacles for waste, but as another piece of urban furniture. We want them to be functional, have greater capacity, but also be aesthetically pleasing, modern, and integrate well into our environment», explains Sala.
The installation of the new containers is being carried out progressively in the different settlements of the territory. This initiative is particularly important in a mountainous region like the Val d’Aran, where the dispersion of villages and seasonal population increases necessitate adequate infrastructure.
«Our goal is for this improvement to reach all the villages of the Val d’Aran. We want to have facilities that meet current needs, both from the perspective of waste management and the image we desire for our territory», adds Oriol Sala.
