The Pompièrs d'Aran lifted the search operation in the off-piste area of Baqueira Beret this Monday, following the confirmation of the death of a young skier trapped by an avalanche.

The young skier, who was rescued in critical condition, died in the evening at the Hospital de Vielha due to cardiorespiratory arrest. The avalanche occurred in the off-piste area of the ski resort in the Val d'Aran.
Emergency teams continued searching throughout Monday morning in the Dossau ravine, looking for a possible second victim, as an additional ski had been found there.
Following checks, it was confirmed that the ski found had been lost by a rental shop client during the previous season.
Despite the confirmation, the Pompièrs wanted to ensure there were no more victims, as recent traces of other skiers were visible in the avalanche zone, which was about 200 meters long. The operation was finally concluded.
