The Vincles Alt Pirineu-Aran project has provided personalized support to 205 elderly citizens between 2023 and 2025 to tackle unwanted loneliness in high-altitude regions.

Results presented this Thursday in Sort show the program reached 30 municipalities and 271 small villages. The initiative addresses challenges such as demographic aging and limited access to services in the Pyrenees and Aran.

"The program has adapted to the territorial peculiarities of each region by opening various participatory processes."

A Big Data system analyzing 40 risk indicators was key to the project, identifying 2,845 people over 55 at risk of isolation. Many of these individuals were previously unknown to social services.
According to the University of Lleida, 85% of participants reported improved emotional well-being. The project is backed by the Generalitat and Next Generation EU funds.
