The railway infrastructure manager, Adif, confirmed that it has carried out over a hundred inspections in "sensitive areas" and identified 23 priority action points, two more than the 21 previously indicated by the Catalan Government. These inspections have been intensified on slopes, tunnels, bridges, and platforms, especially in sections near the coast, following the storm that affected the network last week.
We are working to minimize the risk of new incidents and accidents and to be able to restore the service with absolute guarantees of reliability.
The 23 interventions are distributed across seven lines of the Rodalies network. The geographical distribution is five in Barcelona, five in Girona, nine in Tarragona, and four in Lleida. In addition to protecting structures, the operations also include direct track work. Adif emphasizes that the effort is being made to repair the damage caused by the storm and restore service "in the shortest possible time."
The set of measures is agreed upon and coordinated with Renfe, the Generalitat, the State, and the train drivers' collective. It should be recalled that the drivers refused to circulate last Thursday until safety was guaranteed. The Minister of Transport, Óscar Puente, confirmed via X that the repair work on the R1 slope, very close to the coast, has already been completed. This section suffered a landslide between Maçanet – Massanes and Blanes, which caused a new service interruption after the fatal accident in Gelida.
