African Swine Fever cases in wild boars rise to 216 in Central Catalonia

Authorities confirm 21 new positive cases and maintain access restrictions to natural areas in 16 municipalities.

The Minister of Agriculture, Òscar Ordeig, has confirmed 21 new positive cases of African Swine Fever (ASF) in wild boars, bringing the total number of infections to 216.

In addition to the new positives, 1,708 animals were tested and returned negative results. Ordeig emphasized that eradication efforts are ongoing in the affected areas and urged the public to exercise extreme caution.

Currently, 16 municipalities are within the high-risk zone. In these locations, entering natural environments for individual or group activities is strictly prohibited, although access to homes and indoor businesses remains open.
