Former President of the Generalitat, Artur Mas, visited Manresa last week to support the Junts candidate, Ramon Bacardit, and discussed the disunity of the sovereignty movement and the future of his political space.

The former Convergència leader highlighted the "great untapped potential" of Manresa, a city of 80,000 inhabitants that should have superior economic and cultural dynamics. He advised Bacardit to present a clear project, be close to the people, and regroup the dispersed electorate.

"President Puigdemont may not be able to unite, but he must be there."

Regarding the national situation, Mas regretted that the independence movement is "clearly worse," moving from a majority to "maximum dependence" due to repression and disunity. He argued that the void left by the dissolution of Convergència i Unió (CiU) in 2015 must be filled.
Concerning the rise of the far-right (Aliança Catalana, Vox), Mas urged Junts to adopt an "uncomplexed and clear" discourse on immigration, arguing that the Generalitat must have powers to control entry flows, while acknowledging that Catalunya is a country of immigration.

"If we can still minimally trust the judicial sphere, at some point they must remove him from this trial."
