The Bàsquet Manresa junior team, coached by Nacho Juan, lost their first Euroleague NextGen match (71-88) on Friday against the powerful LDLC Asvel squad.

The Bàsquet Manresa junior team suffered a 71-88 defeat in their Euroleague NextGen debut against LDLC Asvel, a team that leveraged its physical superiority. This marks the second time the Manresa youth academy has participated in the prestigious tournament, following their first appearance in 2011, when the group stage was held in L'Hospitalet.
The team led by Nacho Juan started the game with great offensive and defensive inspiration. Thanks to two three-pointers by Gerard Fernández, five points from Miquel Villalonga, and a basket by Lucas Sánchez, Manresa achieved an initial 13-0 run. However, Asvel quickly reacted, stopping the bleeding and closing the first period with only an 11-point deficit (24-13).
During the second quarter, the Baxi team's lack of outside accuracy and the ease with which they conceded baskets allowed the French team to take the lead just before halftime (37-38), spearheaded by the unstoppable Marvyn Wade, who had already scored 18 points. Although Manresa regained the initiative in the second half with an 11-2 run (56-50), a final lapse allowed Asvel to tie the score at 59-59 before the final period.
In the decisive fourth quarter, Quentin Gougeon's team imposed its physical dominance and began scoring from beyond the 6.75-meter line. The combination of French accuracy and the referees' permissiveness regarding contact near the basket proved crucial, allowing Asvel to build an insurmountable lead of over 15 points against the young Bàsquet Manresa players.
