Coordination between the council, the Catalan Housing Agency, residents, and municipal services is driving the management of vacant properties and, concurrently, enhancing coexistence within residential communities.
In recent months, 8 properties belonging to the Housing Agency have been secured to prevent new occupations. These actions were carried out by the Agency itself and by the City Council, which promptly intervened with its municipal brigade when properties became vacant.
Citizen involvement has been crucial, with residents providing key information to detect at-risk situations. Furthermore, the community mediation service VINCLE is specifically addressing one of the areas most affected by occupations, fostering dialogue and conflict resolution before issues escalate.
These 8 homes are currently awaiting improvement works by the Housing Agency before they can be allocated. Concurrently, the City Council is developing a new allocation procedure that will prioritize municipal residents, aiming to meet local housing needs.
Prevention, coordination, and community participation are consolidating as key pillars to ensure these homes remain protected, are properly conditioned, and fulfill their social function of providing housing access and improving coexistence.
