The Manresa City Council has confirmed that the Cardener river environment is undergoing a successful renaturalization process, according to the 2025 biological report showing a rise in local wildlife.

A total of 74 bird species have been recorded. The cattle egret is particularly notable, with up to 300 individuals wintering in the Bages region. One specimen has been successfully fitted with a GPS tracker.
Mammals such as otters, roe deer, badgers, and foxes have returned to the area. New bat species, including the greater horseshoe bat, have also been identified, signaling a healthier river ecosystem.

"Our uniqueness lies in developing a medium-sized intervention right next to a city of 80,000 inhabitants."
