Teachers across Catalonia are participating in a series of rolling strikes this week, scheduled to end on March 20 with a major nationwide protest in Barcelona.

The unions Ustec, CGT, and Intersindical called for action after 95% of members rejected a previous agreement between the Government and other labor groups. Demands include higher salaries, reduced bureaucracy, and more funding for inclusive education programs.
The strike follows a regional calendar. On Wednesday, March 18, schools in Central Catalonia and Lleida will be affected. The final day of the mobilization, Friday, will involve all educational staff, including administrative personnel and students from the SEPC union.
The Department of Labor has mandated minimum services to ensure safety. At least one teacher must be present for every three classrooms in Primary and Secondary schools, while special education centers must maintain 50% of their regular staff.
