Cleanup efforts on the BV-3008 road in Fonollosa commenced this Tuesday morning following a significant landslide that completely blocked traffic on Monday afternoon.

Excavators and hydraulic hammers are working to break apart massive rocks, some weighing over 50 tons. The Barcelona Provincial Council has confirmed that technical studies and slope stabilization works are required before the road can safely reopen to the public.

"The road must remain closed until 100% safety can be guaranteed for the residents. People cannot risk their lives just to get home."

Eloi Hernàndez · Mayor of Fonollosa
Local residents are currently advised to use alternative routes via the C-25 highway or rural paths. Authorities plan to conduct a full audit of the hillside stability to prevent future incidents caused by heavy rainfall.
